Charlie Hewitt, Summit, MS native, defies categorization – especially where his music is concerned – but the most accurate description would be “balladeer par excellence.”  He has been playing guitar and singing professionally, as well as writing songs, off and on for over 55 years (since 1966)…many Pike Countians remember his regular performances at The Rafters at Lake Dixie Springs “back in the day.”  Early in Charlie’s musical career (1966) he performed on Bourbon Street as part of the Cellar Dwellers trio, then later (early 1970s) toured as one of the Hewitt Brothers, appearing at Holiday Inns and other venues throughout the South with his extremely talented cousin, Jim Hewitt.
