  • Marlo and Mark

Americana/Folk songwriters Marlo and Mark hope their music makes an emotional connection with their listeners. Marlo Hower and Mark Minges released their first album, “Clarity,” in December 2019 followed by their second album, “Brighter Days” in February 2021. Their music is rich in storytelling based on real-life people and situations they have experienced over the courses of their lives. Marlo is the mother of two grown sons and what she terms two “borrowed” daughters. She grew up in Wisconsin where she began singing at age three.. Marlo also loved to write poetry . But it took until the one-time Neuromuscular Therapist’s children were raised–when she and her husband, Keith, moved to Florida–to return to her musical roots. She participated in a singing competition arranged by Mark who was looking for a lead singer and potential writing partner. Mark grew up in the San Francisco Bay area with an early love of music. He began playing guitar at 9 years old and by age 14 he was playing in bay area bands. At 17, he followed his dream to Texas where he played with three bands for almost 25 years. Then he started an oil analysis business in Indianapolis and did that for 22 years. After he sold the business, he “retired” to Florida with wife, Susan, where he re-focused on his love of music, guitar playing and composing.

  • The Sixsters

The Sixsters is a band of five talented girls between the ages of 12 and 17. This band knows how to rock with their own songs at a high quality level. “The Sixsters” was formed in the spring of 2018 by a drummer in a small town in the Kyiv region. At the beginning, all band members lived in different cities and were of different ages. However, one thing connected them all – the endless desire to play rock music. This band went through the time of getting to know each other, rehearsing for hours, also conflicts. But, despite all the difficulties, these girls performed on the main stage called “Sofiyskaya Square” in the capital of Ukraine, performing their own songs under the direction of renowned Ukrainian artists. Some time later the band began to write more and more songs, and in 2019-2020 the girls managed to play over 40 amazing and unforgettable shows, including successful festivals in Ukraine. During this time there were changes in a band, but this only helped the girls grow as musicians and learn life lessons. At the end of 2020, the girls performed an hour-long program on stage, consisting entirely oftheir own songs. There are also music videos for some of these songs. The band took part in various television and radio programs. The desire to write songs grew and so they spent more and more hours rehearsing in their studio, where the band used to record songs. Due to the pandemic in 2020-2021, the year proved difficult for “The Sixsters” as well. Despite this, the girls tried to spend more time practicing and focusing more on creating songs and recording albums. In 2021, the number of songs written exceeded 30. Also, this year “The Sixsters” won a music competition held by the famous Ukrainian rock band “Antytila”. As a result, “The Sixters” got the opportunity to go on the stadium tour with “Antytila” (scheduled for May 2022) to perform on the biggest stages of Ukraine. But in February, when the band had ambitious plans, Russia started the war. Some girls had to flee the country, others sat in air raid shelters under fire from the Russian occupiers. It seemed like the band had completely broken up as nobody knew what to expect. However, every girl believed that one day we would meet again. At the moment they all live all over Europe and no one knows what will happen. In June 2022, after five months of war and without seeing each other, the girls finally met and started playing again! They met in a German town called Essen, where their drummer currently lives. During the first rehearsal, the band managed to create and record a new song. Love of music and friendship helped ‘The Sixsters’ reunite! Now the girls’ mission is to support Ukraine and show that it is an independent country by playing their own songs!

  • New Unity

Brazilian duo New Unity, the brainchild of Gabriel Frangetto (also known as ‘Fran’) and drummer Vitor Emanuel are back with their new single “Feel Again”. Having originally started as a solo artist, Fran formed New Unity to fully discover the sound he wanted to create. Fran explains: “I felt that I needed a band, the entire EP demanded it and already knew the right person to bring it to the public. We met at a music school that we were working on and studying, we had that passion for music and we wanted to do that for the rest of our lives”. For New Unity, speaking through songs is the best way to show how you feel and to understand how others feel. “Music is the universal language, everybody understands”. “Feel Again” once again demonstrates the duo’s pop exploits and ability to create musically rich, emotionally driven but also naturally commercial, infectiously catchy music. “Feel Again” brings together a backdrop of shimmering synths with live guitar, bass and punchy electronic beats under Fran’s melancholic vocal delivery and intensely emotive, relatable lyricism. Speaking about the meaning behind the single, Fran explains: “Feel Again is about giving yourself so much to someone who does not feel the same about you and how hard it is to let it go.” A duo with a lot of promise and a striking ability to create moving alternative-pop tunes, New Unity’s upcoming single “Feel Again” is due for release 22nd July.

  • XTIE

Hong Kong electro-pop artist XTIE released brand new single ‘Spaceship’ this month. An echo to her debut single ‘Flower Town’, ‘Spaceship’ is a happier, younger, and freer-sounding song about finding inner peace and escapism. A contrast to the seemingly naivety of ‘Flower Town’, ‘Spaceship’ takes on a more mature approach in recognizing the difficulty that lies in escaping from the bigger problems in life. ‘I was so frustrated and felt so helpless in everything happening around the world, global warming, policies, the war. I wanted to jump on a spaceship and leave the world behind’ says XTIE. ‘Lyrically I use the perspective of an Alien who lives in Earth for hundreds of years seeing humankind repeating history. The video for the single has been picked up by MTV Asia and shown on the Times Square Video wall in Hong Kong.
