  • Say Yes, Do Nothing

Say Yes, Do Nothing are north London band whose gritty and poetic street reports on homelessness, abortion, abuse and alcoholism are raw mix of the blues, alt/country and Americana. Their new single ‘Lockdown’ is a rock song that humorously profiles couples locked down together due to the COVID pandemic and codependence. It is a collaboration with members of Sleepy Kitty, whose drummer previously played with Harvey Danger of the hit song ‘Flagpole Sitta’. This single is all DIY, recorded from home under their own UK lockdown using Garageband! Frontman Dave grew up in the USA, where his previous album Apron Strings won the Los Angeles DIY Album of the Year Award and featured on the TV show Dawson’s Creek. Dave developed his musical vocabulary listening to Dylan, the Stones, Townes van Zandt, Merle Haggard and Springsteen, as well as reading MAD Magazine, Henry Miller and Harper Lee.Raw and tight, his songtelling storywriting has an infectious character that howls, shakes, rattles and rolls, just as if Leonard Cohen was writing for the Yardbirds with a lairy Jimmy Page in tow. When not writing, Dave spends his time managing medical relief in the world’s worst war zones. Timeless and aggressively up-to-date London grit with Nashville dirt underpinned by deeply rooted Americana song craft, SYDN have headlined sell out shows across London and appeared on festival bills, including the Marlow Rock Bottom Festival. Synic Spins, Northern Pirate Radio, Michael’s Music Blog, Advosound, By the Freaks and The Lemon Radio have reviewed featured SYDN and as their Band of the Day. Bandmates have been interviewed by Cowboy Joe Radio’s ‘The Takeover’ and Limbocast. • TNTina

TNTina is a riotous punk rock tune inspired by the gaming sensation ‘Fortnite’’. It’s 2 ½ minutes of pure non stop energy with a chorus that will be instantly stuck in your head. Guitarist Add says, ‘TNTina is a love song about a character from Fortnite. It uses Fortnite references that have double meanings as standard love song themes. It was written as my song was massively into the game at the time and I gave it a go to try and have a shared interest with him. TNTina was the result of that’ It’s a feel good fun track that perfectly showcases the energy that Everyone Lies have both on stage and off. The track was recorded and mixed at The Ranch Production House in Southampton and produced by Daly George (Creeper, Boston Manor, Miss Vincent). • Ohibo Paronti

The album from Ohibo Paronti is giving a final song of eternal hope for all. Forty years ago, Aberdare’s Rhode Island Red had a colourful past from being told to be quiet by boxer Howard Winston to waking the dead at a funeral parlour, cue the realisation that they were not the only band touring that moniker. Unfortunately, they had just produced a pile of merchandise so with the help of some public house graffiti they picked a band name that wouldn’t be replicated elsewhere. Newly christened Ohibo Paronti, the group performed BBC Wales showcases and high-profile gigs including Hammersmith Odeon led to them being muted as support for a forthcoming North American tour with the mighty Queen, but then the wheels fell off when a management change at the record company left them out in the cold. They carried on purveying a handy line in West Coast harmonies and Steely Dan-style musings with some harder-edged covers (including a fabulous version of The Doors’ ‘Been Down So Long’) to local audiences before calling it a day. An interesting side story in Welsh Music that took a personal tragedy and a global pandemic to bring the three Paronti members back together to rework some old tunes and produce some exciting new material to help them endure lockdown. Ohibo Paronti remains Allan Price, Ian Davies, and Keith Evans.

  • The Word66

Rocking to a higher power. A Christian rock band on a mission to spread the word with rocking melodies, and positive lyrics, coming from a place deep, within their hearts, and led by the Holy Spirit. In a recent review they were called “Gospel-spreading Las Vegans set off on a journey to glory.” But don’t let that title fool you, they rock as hard as your favorite bands. Founded in 2018 by veteran guitarist Steve Scott, who eventually recruited Brian Torres and newest rocker on the CD Lance Crane, and special guest bassist Danny Miranda. The band is inspired by various artists including the likes of Sabbath, Shinedown, Creed, Disciple, and Thousand Foot Krutch to name a few. The band’s new single ‘Just to show my love,’ is a fun, and catchy rock worship tune, assisted by the tasty bass lines from Danny Miranda of Queen and Blue Oyster Cult fame. Their debut single ‘On the way to the promise land’ reached #1 on various radio station playlists, from Christian to hardcore. Steve had lost his way from religion and his love for playing music for many years until God brought him back to fulfill this purpose. He stated “We all have a purpose in life. It took a while to understand ours. “The band’s purpose is to write music that will send out various messages to all who would like to hear. Steve added “We just write some good rock n roll with positive lyrics.” “We like to think that in some cases we are adding some light to the darkness. “The band is getting ready to release a new album entitled ‘Rock & Roll Preaching,’ continuing to unveil an original sound that is edgy, with a touch of commercial acceptability, bringing catchy melodies with thought provocative lyrics. Quoted as ” music that delivers a 1-2 punch,” and humbly “if STRYPER are past their halcyon days now, THE WORD66 only begin to rise and shine.”
